Celtic Learners Network are launching a new programme of courses

This Autumn the Celtic Learners Network are launching a new programme of courses in Rhondda Cynon Taff, using the Nantgarw China Works as a venue. This atmospheric and intimate venue has plenty of free parking and is an ideal environment to get to grips with some exciting subjects. These subjects range from an Introduction to the Mabinogion to an investigation into The South Wales Coalfield, as well as a session on Welsh Poets and a class in December studying the Origins of a Modern Christmas.

The CLN are also going into partnership with National Museum Cardiff, bringing more innovative courses to the centre of the city. Utilising the new art education room in the refurbished west wing, CLN art classes will now be run from this prestigious venue. Subjects include ’Leonardo da Vinci’, ’Sketching at the Museum’, and ’But is it Art?’, an introduction to some of the key themes in Contemporary Art, relating to the new displays in the galleries.

The CLN are also expanding their range of venues in order to create a programme of evening classes for those who work during week days, and Cathays High School and Barry College will be used for this purpose. There will also be courses run at the ongoing popular venues of St David\’s Hall, Barry Library and Llantwit Major Heritage Centre.

Highlights for this term include classes on Russian history and mythology, seeking to dispel the legends surrounding Rasputin, and a session on the Brothers Grimm in all their un-sanitised glory, where you will encounter witches, goblins and murderers among others! There are courses on Druids, Ancient Celtic Literature, and The Truth Behind Camelot for those interested in alternative histories, as well as classes on Political Fiction, Photography, Poetry, Media Studies, and much more!

There is 10% off all enrolments made before the 1st September 2011, and it is possible to pay online through the CLN website: http://www.celticlearnersnetwork.org.uk Please also look out for our prospectus in all major venues and libraries in Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
